Indianola WWII


The small squares visible in the above image are concrete pads where soldiers in the Coast Artillery pitched their tents, (similar to those in the above photo at the LaSalle Monument) when training at Indianola. The pads extend along the beach toward Indian Point. Closeup of some below.

The 203rd Coast Artillery AA from Missouri (Motto: "Don't Kick Our Dog") was one of several artillery batteries that trained at Indianola in WWII. They were based at Camp Hulen near Palacios, Texas.


Although the old city is gone, there is still plenty to see!
