February 2011 - After a very strong norther.
Between the road and bay on Ocean Dr., a granite stone was placed by County Commissioner Frank Wedig to mark the approximate location of the Indianola Courthouse. This area is also a frequent destination of anglers. 
The Calhoun County Historical Commission is having an inscription carved into the stone that should be complete before the August 20, 2011 125th anniversary of the 1886 hurricane that destroyed Indianola. Below is a rendering of what the marker will look like when complete.
