Purple Gallinule spotted with a chick near Alligator Alley.

Purple Gallinules frequent fresh and saltwater shorelines where they like to dine on insects and frogs. They have one to two broods a year that like to stay together. Its long toes help it to walk on lily pads and coastal vegetation. (July 2006)
