Black-necked Stilt There were
a half-dozen or more Stilts walking the marsh along Brighton
Ave. the afternoon of 7/30/06. Their loud "kek-kek-kek"
is quite distinctive.
These birds nest on the ground and have one brood per year.
They particularly like marshy areas and dine on aquatic insects. Extremely
long legs compared to their body size and they will entertain you with their
calling and other antics. |
