Texas Camel Corps
The Texas Camel Corps is not stationed at Indianola, however, they were here on May 19-20, 2006.This was the first step of the trek from Indianola to Camp Verde west of San Antonio.
The original Camel Corps landed at Indianola in 1856, more came later in the same year, and they crossed the southwest and made it to California as an experiment to the adaptability of camels as pack animals. Then they walked back to Texas.
